The congregation of Abbotsford is 25 years old this year. Before then we were two separate congregations brought together as numbers declined and because Clydebank Town Centre was being refurbished and the planners needed our space!
We have a new building built with a modern sanctuary, cleverly designed so everyone can see each other when worshipping. We believe in community. We don't like looking at the labels on the back of everyone's clothes, we prefer looking at the their faces!

We aren't far from Dumbarton Rock and where Saint Patrick lived a while, preached and prepared himself for his preaching and work. We are also in the ancient area of Dalriada, a Pictish area of Scotland greatly influenced by the Celts.

We are right in the centre of Clydebank beside the canal and Playdrome. It is easy to get to, and once you're here we hope it is just as easy to become part of the community of Abbotsford. The only difficulty is that from the outside our tower reminds everyone of a firestation.

Abbotsford is a congregation of all sorts of people who have experienced a whole lot in life. We are a mixture of unemployed and self-employed, we've come through blitz, closure of Ship Yards and Singers Sewing Machines, renovation of our town, and large housing estate problems. But we're here by the grace of God and with all this experience, we're continually looking for ways to respond and care for our community.

Part of our Parish has some of the worst housing problems in Europe. We've not been brilliant at responding to them in the past but our vision over the next while is to be God's People exactly where God wants us to be. The celtic tradition of the interactive mix of worship and work, prayer and people, vision and vocation infect the way we do community. See our Celtic pages for our devotional work and how we build our community influenced by the Celtic way.
