bible for duffers

Duffers is not about intellectual, theological, teleological or philosophical approaches to the Bible, though all that comes into it.
It's about freeing up the stories and depth of a book for written for ourselves, our community and our world.
A new addition to this group is it's responsibility for designing and imagining ways to use The Word in our regular services. Taking the passages each month, once they have been discussed, laughed over, debated over, cried over, we talk about how best this passage could be brought over in worship. |

Maybe it's a bit like the blind leading the blind as we'll never really know all the answers to these questions but it can be a fascinating insight into what lies behind our Faith Story and give ample opportunity for everyone to share their thoughts, questions and presumptions. It really is for people who freely admit to knowing nothing! But that they would like to learn a little. It certainly makes a little more sense of Sunday mornings! |
It's better if you don't have Greek of Hebrew (or even English!). It's better if you don't have any knowledge of theology, Christology, Ecclesiology or any other -ology. It won't be a great help if you can't remember if Zephaniah (who?) was a prophet, priest or pest. Nor will it make much difference if you can't remember who the 12 disciples were, or what colour of eyes Jesus had. |
