the 11 o'clock service

A wee taster of our worship. A little description with a few examples and a few link sites to help you find our where we're coming from.

But it's different every week. Best to pop in if you are ever in the area or contact us by e-mail and get our e-newsletter that will give some of the stuff we're doing.

all-age

We're very keen to have everyone feeling they are part of God's Community. Thus we introduce the theme for everyone here through image and symbol.

We have images of the theme waiting as people arrive most Sundays, then unpack it all, at an all-age level.

We have our first telling of the Scripture passage in various ways and we sing and pray together as a whole community

music

We use hymns and songs from ancient traditions and new sources. We need to tell the world what heaven's message is and we need to voice what needs to be heard in heaven.

From Common Ground and the Church of Scotland Hymn Book, we find the words we need to do these things.

prayer

We have meditation and silence and intercession and thanksgiving in various styles or prayer throughout our service.

Some have been published and some are in our worship archive pages.

scripture

Always keen to make the scriptures as understandable as possible, we present them through various means. normally it is through one reader. At other times it is with music, image, action or dialogue.

contemporary reading

Surely God hasn't locked up heaven and stopped inspiring people? We believe God continues to do so and we hear a reading weekly that has been inspired in the contemporary world based on the ancient promises of God.

sermon

Not Bible study, not politics (other than those of heaven), not dire monologues but thoughts and stories and pictures based on the kingdom.

Not frightened to use contemporary ideas, styles and images, the sermon is a short ten minutes that attempt to refresh the soul and is spoken on behalf of a people and a God for the world.
