Big Note Featured Artist
Gil Savage
Gil was 16 when she played her first professional gig at the
infamous Princess Charlotte Leicester. Luckily the experience
did no lasting damage and many more solo gigs followed.
A short while a band was formed with other musicians
from Derby and her home town Nottingham.
As Guitarist, Singer and Songwriter with FROM
1932 for two years GIL learnt her trade; recording several demos
and playing many gigs in the Midlands area as well as picking
up light and sound engineering skills.
Following this GIL moved to London and formed
POUCH. Gigs and recording followed with critical approval from
both NME and Melody Maker.
After pouch finished under usual rock 'n' roll
accusations GIL formed BIMBO with Australian musician Jane Burnside.
After major label interest became disinterest,
GIL decamped to Australia where she remained writing songs and
playing the lucrative Australia hotel circuit with Bimbo and newly
formed band THE POPSTARS.
Upon her return GIL began playing acoustic gigs
and then tried not drinking in attempt to self finance her first
solo single. It worked and you can hear excepts from the single
here on the Big Note site!
Done!!
Throughout the years GIL has also collaborated
with Johny 'Mr Gabba' Violent on various projects and records,
as well as session work for the not so noisy.
GIL has too many influences to list but recommends
either The Ramones 'Chasing the night', or Sabres of Paradise
'Wilmot' (depending on your mood) as the perfect way to start
a Saturday night.
Debut Single "Big Rock Star" is now
available. Price 2.50 GBP ( incl p&p - UK orders only ).
