Big Note Featured Artist
Polly Paulusma

Brief Biography.
Polly Paulusma (pronounced pauls-mah) is the "sweet backing vocalist" (Time Out) on Ben & Jason's album Ten Songs About You (Go!Beat/Polydor), which came out last October. As well as being a singer with a memorable voice, she's an accomplished songwriter: her haunting melodies and complex lyrics are a hallmark of songs which have been catching the attention of audiences across London at venues such as The Kashmir Klub, The Spot, The Hope & Anchor, The Enterprise and The Borderline. She is currently recording her first album.

Musical style/description/quotes.
"A singer / songwriter with a voice to die for. Her talent is being noticed by more and more audiences across the London circuit." - Ents 24
Forthcoming news/plans.
I'm currently recording a home-made album with a very talented producer. It's all a bit rough and ready, but that gives it an extra sparkle, I think. A bit of scuffing adds to the character. I'm looking forward to recording and writing as part of this project over the coming year.
Recordings made/available. (how to get them)
Two demos are available (winter 2000/2001 and autumn 2001) to buy for £4 each (3 songs each). Just send an email to info@pollypaulusma.com or buy one at a gig.
Influences.
The ever-present Ms Joni Mitchell, along with Carole King, Alanis Morrisette, Beth Hirsch, Eed Harcourt, Nick Drake, Del Amitri, Natalie Merchant...
Daydreams.
Owning a pristine-condition convertible Morris Minor. White. Aged red leather seats. Walnut dashboard. Minidisc player. Bliss.
Secret pleasure.
Well it wouldn't be secret if I told you now, would it...!
Favourite memory.
I've got a recurring childhood memory of stumbling accidentally across a clearing in a wood which was carpetted with bluebells.
Longest hour.
Waiting to play before a gig.
Shortest hour.
Playing a gig.
Favourite gadget/luxury.
My scooter - but it got nicked. If it wasn't so dangerous for vulnerable extremities I'd get another one.
Itchiest irritation.
When strings break mid-song.
Best understanding.
I don't understand anything.
Greatest confusion.
Why do birds suddenly appear...
