In this section we highlight the forest villages, from the historic village of Beaulieu with its delightful views over the tidal river, and further north to Godshill, surrounded by open moorland covered with heather and bracken. Each village has its own varied history and places of interest, many can be traced back to the rein of William 1 and were collated in the book of Winchester, later to be known as 'The Domesday Book'. Also included in this section is up to date local
information about shops, services, pubs, restaurants and accommodation. The many activities each village can offer the visitor such as walking, cycling and horse riding are covered more extensively in our activities section.
