The first promotional miniature sheet went on sale after the post office was approached by Boots the Chemists who commissioned this popular collectors item. It was originally sold together with a greetings card. The sheet consisted of a 1st class NVI stamp printed by Questa on OFNP/PVA with elliptical perfs and C phosphor bands. The selvedge of the sheet bore the Boots logo. The flaps which were used to secure the sheet to the cards bore the wording Royal Mail and a message about the validity of 1st class postage. So popular, this sheet soon sold out and a reprint was ordered. The reprint was 1 mm shorter and had a whiter gum. A second reprint was also issued (without the Boots logo) this allowed other stores to promote their own wares. Top right are H.M Miniature Sheet and the Jeffery Mathews Miniature Sheets.
