Self Adhesives stamps are here to stay. According to Royal Mail sources every stamp issue will eventually have this type of gum. All booklet and sheet stamps will be affected by the year 2002, exept for maybe prestige booklets. (This remains to be seen) It has been been suggested that the reason for this major change is that they are more popular with the general public. They are easier to use and much more hygienic. The real reason I suspect is they are cheaper to produce, hence more shekels in the coffers for the royal mail. Will they come unstuck when it comes to collectors hard earned cash? |

Its Official 80% of collectors that replied will stick with Self adhesives. One or two reports about stamps peeling from the backing in booklets, otherwise the stamps usually stay in good condition. How they stand the test of time is another matter. Reports from America & Australia say that so far the stamps issued have stood the test, but it is still early days. Next: Referals |
