 ENTRIES

Entries should be sent to Mr S. Swire, 69 Scholemoor Avenue, Lidget Green, Bradford. BD7 2RU. Tel: 01274 411817 and must be accompanied by the appropriate fees .

The committee reserves the right to refuse or transfer any entry. The controller’s decision will be final in all matters, and entry will be deemed to signify acceptance of these conditions.

Accommodation can be found by enquiries to the local Tourist Information Centre Tel: 01274 753678.

SWISS SYSTEM

All these tournaments will be 5 rounds with every competitor expected to play in each round.

TIMES OF PLAY

Round 1 Friday                16th Sept.        7.00pm – 11.00pm
Round 2 Saturday             17th Sept.        9.30am  –   1.30pm
Round 3 Saturday              17th Sept.        2.30pm - 6.30pm
Round 4 Sunday                18th Sept.        9.30am  -   1.30pm
Round 5 Sunday                18th Sept.        2.30pm  -   6.30pm

A ½ point Bye will be available in any of the first 4 rounds which must be requested with entry form.

TIME LIMIT

Each player may make 42 moves in 1¾ hours then each clock is turned back 15 minutes and all remaining moves to be made in the time available.

BRADFORD OPEN TOURNAMENT
Entry Fee £19
Prizes:
1st £200. 2nd £100. 3rd £50
Grading Prizes of £20 Awarded in bands of approximately 15 players.
 
BRADFORD MAJOR TOURNAMENT
This tournament is open to players with a grading of 160 or below.
Entry Fee £16
Prizes:
1st £130. 2nd £75. 3rd £50
Grading Prizes of £20 Awarded in bands of approximately 15 players.
 
BRADFORD MINOR TOURNAMENT
This tournament is open to players with a grading of 120 or below.
Entry Fee £16
Prizes:
1st £130. 2nd £75. 3rd £50
Grading Prizes of £20 Awarded in bands of approximately 15 players.
 
The P. HALLIDAY TROPHY
This will be awarded to the highest scoring BRADFORD & DISTRICT CHESS ASSOCIATION member.
JUNIOR FEES
Juniors are welcome in any of the tournaments and entry fees are charged at half price. A junior shall be under the age of 16 before 1st September 2005.
 
ENTRY FEES
For entries postmarked after  10th September 2005 an additional fee of £2 will be required. Entries on the day may be subject to an additional £5.
 
NO SMOKING
No smoking allowed in the playing area.

GRADING AND PRIZES
The highest published grade will be used for all purposes in this congress. No player may win more than one cash prize. If necessary trophy winners will be decided by ‘sum of progressive scores’ tie break, or, if still undecided, by a random draw.
 
REFRESHMENTS
Light refreshments and licensed bar will be available.
 
Travelling to the Ex-Servicemens Club
 
Those people who travel by train or coach, will usually arrive at the Transport Interchange in the centre of Bradford. To get to the venue you can walk (approximately 15 minutes) or catch a bus, ask at the interchange for details. Car travellers should follow signs for Queensbury, from the centre of Bradford. Shearbridge Road is situated on your right past the University. Journey time from the centre is approximately  5 minutes.

NORTHERN MEMBERSHIP SCHEME (NMS)

The Bradford Chess Congress is affiliated to NMS . This scheme is open to any NCCU player. By paying a one-off fee of £10 at any participating event you will gain the following benefits until 31/8/06:

 

                1 Reduced entries to events all over the North.

               

                2 Basic membership of the BCF.

               

                3 Exemption from game fee at BCF affiliated events.

               

                4 Your club will pay reduced fees to leagues (saving                 your game fee element), resulting in reduced club         fees for yourself.

 

Any BCF or NMS member can reduce their entry fee by £3.00 , membership number required.
