The Reliant Kitten was launched in 1975 as a replacement for the Rebel. It was almost mechanically identical to the Robin, and was launched roughly to coincide with the 848cc engine being installed in the Robin. It had a hard time competing with the Mini, Fiesta, Renault 5, VW Polo class, and just over 4000 were made before production ended in 1982. However, Princess Anne is said to have once owned an example.
Generally, Kittens represent excellent value for money, and are worth roughly the same as the Robin. Around £1000 for the best, £500 for mid range and £100-200 for a restoration project. One interesting feature of the car was its amazingly small turning circle. They are hard-wearing and dependable - buy one before the Classic Car movement leans more heavily into seventies cars.
