About Java Psion Link (JPL), is intended to be a cross-platform solution for transferring files between Psion Epoc PDAs (netBook, series 7, 5Mx, revo) and any computer with a serial port and the ability to run java. Features The current version of JPL is 2.0 alpha 5. Here is a brief list of some of the things you can use it for: Browse the Psions disks. Download and Upload files and folders. Synchronize the Psions clock with your desktop. Open files on the Psion directly via JPL. Make full and incremental backups - now for multiple machines. Restore from backup. Re-written (and hopefully easier to use) conversion GUI. Export Word as text, RTF or HTML. Import text, RTF and HTML as Word. Export Sketch to GIF, PNG and JPEG. Import GIF, PNG and JPEG to Sketch. Export Jotter as text or CSV. Export Sheet as CSV. Export Data files as CSV. Import/Export (uncompressed) Record files as AU/AIFF/WAV. Import/Export several file formats as XML (experimental). Download & Installation Java Psion Link requires that you have Java and javax.comm installed on your system. MacOS 8-9 (Classic) Make sure you have the Mac Runtime for Java (MRJ) installed. Download the MacOS version of JPL. Please note that I am no longer developing JPL for MacOS Classic, so the version above is an older release and therefore it will not have all of the features mentioned above. MacOS X MacOS X comes with Java pre-installed. Install javax.comm Download the OS X Application. Linux Install Java. Install javax.comm Download the JPL jar file. There is also a guide available, in German, written by Frank Emmerlich, here. Windows Install Java. Install javax.comm Download the JPL jar file. Kevan Jones has provided a guide (rtf) to getting JPL working on Windows NT. It mainly deals with getting javax.comm installed, as this is the tricky part. Other Platforms Make sure you have Java installed correctly and that is at least version 1.1 or greater. Install javax.comm (see RXTX). Download the JPL jar file.

Contact I am happy to hear from you if you have trouble getting Java Psion Link to work. I will try to help you out if I can, but I cannot promise that Java Psion Link will work on your system. This is partly why it is still considered an "alpha". I am developing JPL on MacOS X and Linux, where JPL works fine. By getting feedback I can further improve the chances of it working better on other peoples systems too. Having said that JPL is generally a very stable alpha.
