Pilgrimage route planning

Jules Aidan & Bridget ( & Rosie Meld & Clare who stayed behind and went expensive violin shopping!)

Update:-  A further visit was made to this area by Aidan & Bridget in late April and the result of their day can be seen by clicking

here

1) A large horse runs over to greet us as we leave the outskirts of Cudworth (or should that be "Mudworth"!! as it was.... very muddy!)

Having slid one foot forward, & two feet backwards up the hill I thought I'd try my hand at abstract photography and look right up inside a pylon!

....through featureless lands we wandered but I found a tree to use as a background for Bridget & Aidan.... it's all there was, honest!

....and it was shortly after this that we wandered for some distance..........the wrong way!!!!    To use the well used phrase of Patrick Reeve's route planning philosophy "the map's right, it's just the ground that's wrong!!" was quite fitting here because there was literally nothing to use as a landmark.  What made it even worse was that Aidan looked at his map just before we went wrong!

After a bit of a detour and a stroll across what must have been the biggest single field I have walked over in some years (not as flat as driving a train across the Nullabor plain but just as boring!!). We got to Fitzwilliam, a smallish town on the outskirts of Pontefract........

We hoped for a spot of lunch at the Catchpenny inn........"are you doing food today?" I asked with that sort of I know you're going to say no look on my face .  "Naw Cock Theres't wedden on!" was the reply.

No Lunch.... AAARGH!

Still there was at least a beer or two to be had with our two packets of crisps each!!.... Then it was silly time with the photos after a Pseudo lunch!! (notice my finger successfully setting in the way of the pub name!!

......and now to the right (this time without added finger!!)

Just think, if I'd eaten a lunch any bigger than two packets of crisps I'd never have got through these poles!!!!!!!!!!!

And so to our final port for the day (the name of which I cannot remember.....) It was getting late and it was decided that we should stop and get the bus back to Cudworth where we had parked the car. Not before I had drunk another pint & had another bag of crisps in the pub just down from the bus stop though!!

......That was the end of our Pilgrimage route planning day but it wasn't the last photo I took on the day......  We went for a lovely meal in the evening and I ate for England (no change there then I hear you all shout). No one had a dessert except Meld so what do you do when everyone else has finished and only one person has a dessert................

.........Sorry Meld!!
