South
Asia Emergency Appeal
In early January 2005 we held our first ever charity auction, with all
of the proceeds going towards the Tsunami
Disaster relief operation.
All items being
auctioned that evening were cakes!
Both home-made and shop-bought were brought around our tables to tempt
us, and the bidding was fast, and the eating of the cakes almost as
quick.
Buns, pavlovas,
sponges, gateaux and even Aunt Isabel's famous apple pie were up for
grabs.
Not
a single piece of baking went under the hammer for less than £10,
and one magnificently decorated pirate cake went for a staggering £300!!!
In the end, our
auctioneer David McAdam got his just deserts, and we were able to send
a cheque for £3000 to help rebuild homes and lives in South Asia.
