City of Portsmouth Athletic Club

Whilst the name has changed over time, the club is one of the oldest and most successful athletic clubs in the South of England.

The club caters for all age groups and athletic disciplines and has members competing from around 11 to over 70 years old. Members under 11 are also accepted and a range of activities are available to introduce them to the sport.

The club has a number of qualified coaches to assist members to achieve their full potential and to guide them in their athletic career.

Whatever the athletic interest, the club is able to offer and encourage participation. Associate Membership is available to those who are not competing but wish to assist with the running of the club or maintain an interest. Some of our members have been with the club for over 50 years, such is their loyalty and devotion. Members include internationals such as former European 5000m Champion, Bruce Tulloh and National Cross Country Champion, Gerry North.

The club hosts several events during the year, most notably the Victory 5 Road Race, over 50 years old & one of the top 5 mile races in the country. Held in December, it attracts around 1000 runners from throughout the UK, plus top overseas runners. The D-Day 10k, held in June, is the second of the road races run by the club. The club hosts two early season Track & Field Meetings, a mid-week Open Meeting for all age groups in March and a Young Athletes Meeting in April.
