But we celebrate the flags of St Andrew and St Patrick just as well ..
and not forgetting our friendly Welsh dragon.
We believe in the UK .. and that it should stay that way.

Even though the main format is now DVD, we will still continue
to be known by our old name of Valerie's UK Videos.
Videos are what we sell ... but on DVD.

We have titles on most counties now. Just because your county is not listed in the links above doesn't mean we haven't a DVD on it. It simply means that as we get more and more from a particular county, it warrants a page to itself. There's often other titles scattered about on other pages. It's because we are disorganised ! SPIRIT OF ENGLAND	. . a page, containing a two-volume title of that name, and then a selection of a few others of a similar nature; Stately Homes and Gardens predominantly in England; more will be added as they come out.
HERITAGE : 1	. . This was our very first page of titles, and has titles from all over England; the best of English rural life, farms and farming, around the counties. Especially good selection on Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and East Anglia. Many lovely titles, most made by local Yorkshire studios; Dales walks, on the Wolds, Yorkshire Heritage Coast.
HERITAGE : 2	. . more British History, with more cities, towns & counties, mostly in England, some Scotland, country walks throughout the UK, archive material of World War II, etc; Lancashire's Moving Memories, 4 volumes of archive from the 1930s to the 50's . . . A stunning set of 15 DVD's on Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire are also on this page.
HERITAGE : 3	. . mostly Gardens and Miscellaneous titles; for Kew, Westonbirt, Wisley, Chelsea2005, and other years back to 1998 ! all are now on a separate page. Plus Gardens of Cornwall, plus several National Trust gardens around Britain presented by Alan Tichmarsh. If you saw one on holiday and missed it, we probably have it here . . .
HERITAGE : 4	. . a sort of overflow page with a few titles of a miscellaneous nature . . shown here because we're running out of shelves to put them on ! So many titles . . . so little room. Added Jan 2003 . . . 11 volumes of "cinema shorts" made by the G.P.O. FILM UNIT in the 1930s through to the 1950s ... Remember WH AUDEN and his "NIGHT MAIL" . . they're on this page. Also, a lovely set on the west coast of Scotland, Wester Ross, the Hebrides, Road to the Isles, Mull, Skye, etc, no commentary, just music. Lovely. See here also for BTF (British Transport Films) made in the same era. Britain as she used to be. Not the forsaken, drug-ridden, bullet scarred place she has become of late.
HERITAGE : 5	... and associated 4 sub-pages ... a list of 40 titles of towns and cities around both England and Wales from the same studio. All alphabeticallly arranged on 4 subsidiary pages, with towns A - C, D - L, M - R, and S -W. From Aberystwyth to Wrexham, Bath to Wolverhampton or Scarborough, these pages are worth a look if you haven't found the town you're looking for already.
added AUG 05 HERITAGE : 6	... an additional 26 towns and cities, mostly in the North of England, from a different studio to the one above. COASTAL DVD's	THREE TITLES ADDED . . . COAST, the 12-hour BBC series, is now out on a 3 x DVD boxed set.
WILTSHIRE	. . a short selection of 4 titles from a quality studio based in the county, new to our lists in May 2003. Lovely films that show the timeless landscape of Wiltshire and the Cotswolds, and some of the old crafts and trades that were synonymous with country folk. Lots of heritage, lots of character, and an abundance of scenery.
YORKSHIRE TITLES	. . a separate list of Yorkshire titles, dealing with archive film of cities like Leeds or Sheffield, or deep-sea fishing from Hull, or the wartime blitz on all three of those, and more besides.
NORTHUMBRIA & DURHAM	. . another list of titles particular to these two counties, from a quality studio that only specialises in the North East. Thus we offer ; Edwin's Kingdom, The Border Reivers, Durham Cathedral, Lindisfarne Island, and much more.
CATHERINE COOKSON TITLES	. . now the whole series are on 3 DVDs, or can be purchased as a complete 24-title Boxed Set. A stunning set, and now cheaper on DVD than they were on VHS !
WALES	. . another small selection centred on Wales and her fantastic history. It beholds every Englishman to learn to understand Welsh, and Scots and Irish, history. Only then, when you understand them, will you understand your own English history, and rest easy with who you are and how this country has shaped you. Some Welsh town DVD's are on Heritage Page 5 above too.
IRISH & GAELIC	. . just a small selection of carefully chosen titles from or about Ireland . . it's Legendary Waters, Celtic Spirits, a land of unique history and rich culture. Some are made in Ireland .. from it's ancient history to the modern Ferries of Dublin Bay, we hope you like them.
SCOTLAND	. . mainly Industrial Heritage, fishing, steelworks, shipbuilding, Highland railway, etc. There are also some other titles on Scotland scattered around the whole site .. we'll get organised one day and get them altogether. . but for now, please browse, or email us for that which you seek.
NOSTALGIA	. . all six main Heritage Pages contain much archive material, of British life as it used to be; steam, trams, trolley buses; rural and urban life of the past. We suggest you start by browsing No 1 . .
MUSIC	Scenery of the English Lake District, set to famous classical pieces, VIVALDI, RACHMANINOV, MOZART, BACH, BEETHOVEN, SIBELIUS, MAHLER, mostly on DVDs and 2 DVDs featuring ELGAR.
TRAMS & TROLLEYS	... Some 50 or so titles, mainly DVDs now, of trams and trolleys, some light and electric railways, occasional docks and other misc items connected in some way with old transport. Bags of nostalgia for a slower and more considerate pace of life.
RAIL & STEAM	. . a large selection of train and railway DVD's; we will mainly try to offer those programmes that explore and enhance the importance of Britain's industrial rail heritage, thus preserved lines in today's beautiful countryside sit alongside archive films of our smokiest towns and cities. See our latest selection of Scenic Railway DVD's, from North Wales, The Lakes, The Peaks, etc.
CANALS & NARROWBOATS	. . . 27 titles . . mostly English Midlands, but also London, Thames, Yorkshire, etc. Quite a collection, all of which we're very proud to be able to offer.
GHOSTS OF BRITAIN	. . a set of DVD's about ghosts and ghoulish appearances throughout history from many towns and counties across the UK. Presented by Richard Felix, there's a good deal of history and unexplained happenings within. Available in DVD.
MILITARY & NAVAL	. . World War II at sea, in the air; Royal Navy & Royal Marines, Fleet Air Arm, Royal Air Force, several titles to do with aircraft carriers and carrier landings, naval instructional films, World War One battles, Somme, Gallipoli, Ypres. MOST are unsuitable for unsupervised children. If children do watch these, it should ONLY be part of structured history tuition. ie. PCSR ! (Parental Common Sense Required)
CHILDREN'S TITLES	. . a slightly new departure for us. We have previously had half a dozen kiddies titles on the same page as others, as a sort of small offering at the bottom. This is a page that will expand as we add to it. Mostly DVD's, though, and all Region 2 for UK, so they won't do for abroad unless on a multi-region player. So, Aesop's Fables comes out on video late March ... and the rest are on DVD and are available ex-stock now. Cinderella, Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Mightymouse, Felix the Cat, etc., and more to come.
SHIPS & SHIPPING	. . NOW UP TO EPISODE 29 ! . .. on the Great Liners, the heyday of Britain's Merchant Navy. From the 1920's and the Britannic, to the Canberra and QE2. To say nothing of the stunning DVD on the Queen Mary . . . a great gift for any who remember them, worked or travelled on them, or have relatives that did. Now you can SEE just what Grandad was talking about when he says he spent his youth 'afore the mast! ALL these now available on DVD!

but Home Security Considerations now make this unwise.

We know many will say this is bad for business, but we find that the vast majority of our customers order by email and send their payment on by Royal Mail later, and there is often some dialogue between us first, enquiries about formats, pricing, content, before an order is confirmed. In any case, we would now discourage the sending of cheques 'blind' . . Though we do carry some stock, we do like to be sure we can get the titles of your choice before sending us your payment.

It is getting especially difficult to get titles in NTSC for North America, as DVD becomes much more universal. In short, the video industry is a mess, and we just jog along and hope for the best.

With regard to our address, we're sure you'll understand the
security implications for a private house in a rising crime area ... . . .

Some would say Hull has a very bad name ; Some may say that - we couldn't possibly comment . . apart from that we have to be double sure everything is bolted down or we wouldn't see it again !! And that includes the grass !! If it can be moved, it will be . .. and if it can't, it will be destroyed or covered in graffiti at the very least..

We still don't see any evidence of the new levels of Policing we've been promised. As far as general security is concerned, I think the day is fast approaching when we're going to have to go private. Police still seem to be but a fond memory, a long-past "has been".
If we see one, we take note ... if we see two, we take a photo ... ! If we see three, we take cover ....
