BRUCH & MENDELSSOHN :
BRUCH'S Violin Concerto features a snowy Loch Lomond area, followed by a little wintry ski-ing on the Cairngorms. A spring thaw leads to summery conditions with a stormy Glen Coe, views from Ledaig near Oban, on to the Isle of Skye (including Cuillin views and a visit to the Old Man of Storr) before returning to the mainland near Oban and Glen Coe once more. The final movement mainly visits the Newtonmore Highland Games.
The Scottish Fantasy begins with a few historical sites including cemeteries and ruins, then visits the far north (Durness coastline) ending at Beauly. Another movement crosses from the west coast near Ullapool down and across to Braemar and the east. The final movement shows an open-air Ceilidh at Grantown on Spey, a woodfest in Anagach Woods, views along the Spey valley to Ballindallock Castle, Brodie Castle, Elgin and the Moray Firth.

BRUCH to Scotland
This video/VHS version features the same locations for the Bruch pieces as on the DVD above. All that is missing are the Mendelssohn pieces, by virtue of the shorter tape running time.
It is worth saying here that all these DVDs below are still produced by this Lakeland studio on VHS also .. and show signs of doing so for some time to come. The reason we have stopped listing VHS is that they are increasingly getting hard to get .. but not so these. Even so, customers would be advised to email us for VHS details, most of which can be supplied in NTSC as well .. but not NTSC on DVD .. they're all PAL.
The situation generally is very confused, and by and large, we have stopped listing VHS though many are still available. What we're trying to avoid is customers sending us money 'blind' for VHS titles we can no longer obtain.
The video doesn't give the running time, but devotees of these two works by Bruch know that the Violin Concerto lasts for about 25 minutes, and the Scottish Fantasy just about 20. So we feel safe in estimating around 40 mins.

LAKELAND in Autumn . . . set to "Symphony No2 in E Minor" by Sergei Rahkmaninov One of the most romantic symphonies ever written, the autumnal tones of Rakhmaninov's orchestral masterpeice is here complete; no cutting; every note; and oh! the scenery. The slow movement lasts for 14 minutes. |

LAKELAND in Winter . . . set to "Symphony No2 in D" by Jean Sibelius Yet another orchestral tour-de-force, the finalé almost rivals 'Finlandia' as the Finn's national hymn. The English Lake District is shown here as most never see it, dressed in the beauteous garb of winter. This video is one to warm the heart, a fireside video on a stormy night with a cup of something warm. Or a glass maybe, of something a little
warmer still . . . . |
