In addition to my model railway interest, you might be interested to know that I have published a number of books and videos on the real thing. THE PEAT RAILWAYS OF
IRELAND The video takes a look at Bord na Móna's operations around various parts of the country. Included are scenes of peat trains crossing specially built viaducts, crossing the Grand Canal swingbridge and a peat train travelling through a disused canal lock, gates in tact! Also featured are shots of a peat train passing under the Dublin-Cork mainline whilst an IE 201 Class thunders overhead! |

THE IRISH NARROW
GAUGE TODAY Although shot in 1997, the videos takes a look at present day narrow gauge railways in Ireland, from County Down to County Kerry. Some of the featured railways include the County Donegal, Peatlands Railway, Bord na Móna, Curragh Military Railway, Cavan & Lietrim, Tralee & Dingle and the last remaining bits of the Listowel & Ballybunion monorail! |
