VERA RAMONE
Vera Boldis was picked up by Dee Dee Ramone at Max's Kansas City in December 1977. Ever the romantic, he didnt call her until the girl he was living with at the time kicked him out
9 Months Later they were married.

All this and more is documented in a pretty interesting book called 'Rock Wives' which is worth the price just for this great picture of Dee Dee learning to play the scales on a keyboard

When Dee Dee left the Ramones, he left his wife as well, and she is not mentioned at all in his book, but I don't know if that's for legal or personal reasons
UPDATE DECEMBER 2003

Keith by Keith
Almost exactly 2 years after I put out this page, out of the blue I got an email from
Keith Green - he'd seen this page and knew why Vera wasn’t in the book - heres what he told meI was photographing Dee Dee for my photo-journalistic essay during his residency at the Chelsea Hotel (and during the period of which he was in the process of finalizing the manuscript for his autobiography [then] titled, Poison Heart). Dee Dee and Vera were also in the midst of finalizing their divorce and Dee Dee did include at least a chapter on Vera in the original manuscript. I was in his room at the Chelsea on the day he received word (via telephone), that Vera would threaten a law suit if Dee Dee didn’t immediately remove all references to her in his book. I witnessed the tantrum that Dee Dee threw for having to re-write portions of the manuscript which was compounded by the fact that other individuals and experiences that he intended to include in this book were also left out as a result.
These details (for some unknown reason), have never been publically revealed to Dee Dee's readers and fans who in some cases have criticized his writing structure regarding the time-line sequences. To add to Dee Dee's frustration and the set-backs that threatened to derail his first serious literary venture, he felt that his literary agent at the time wasn't putting forth the best effort in finding a publisher in America. Strong-willed and determined that he was, Dee Dee (without prior notice), packed up his belongings and took off to Europe with his manuscript in-hand, where he eventually found a British publishing company to publish his autobiography.
One day in early January of 2000, Dee Dee phoned to inform me of plans for a new version of his autobiography whose publishing rights were recently purchased from the British publishers, by American publishers of rock music autobiographical books, Thunder's Mouth Press.
This new version entitled Lobotomy, would include several of my never-before-published photographs of Dee Dee at the Chelsea Hotel, on the cover and insides as well as additional new text.
Check out Keiths pictures of Dee Dee and much more (Tommy, Marky and CJ are there too if you look around)
