Furball the Gerbil

Once at Cubs Akela roared
“You know what kids I’m down right bored
We’ve gone on camps and played games too,
And now it’s time for something new.
What can we do if just for one night
That will make my poor old mind feel right?”

Well there we all sat with brains in gear
Until I leapt up and cried: “Have no fear!
I think it will be cool if next week we get
Our Cub Pack some amazing pet.
We can all do our best to help it out
And it will teach us what caring’s all about.”
Akela leapt up like a ballet dancer,
And cried” you now what boy you’ve got the answer!
This is the answer to my dream
I thinks it’s gonna be a scream!

Lets Do our Best
(extract from)

If there was one thing that suited me
It was to sit on the sofa and watch TV,
Stuffing my face with chocs and sweets
And blaring out the tunes of hip hop beats.
My mother cried “you lazy slob!
All you do is stuff your gob

Lying on the sofa like some greedy glut
While you’re poor old mother busts a gut.
You’re beginning to get so round and chubby
I might as well be a mother of a telly tubby!
I’m not the owner of Disney’s Flubber
So it’s about time you lost that blubber!”

You never try at home or school
In fact, you don’t do your best at all.
And grabbing me by the tip of the ear
She cried “get your coat on do you hear
Because tonight matey” she loudly shouts
I’m sending you packing to join the Scouts!”
