General Definition of Breed
Classes for Championship Shows
as per The Irish Kennel Club -
2007.
(Any inaccuracies are my own)

Group 1 - previous classification

aware of typical changes under the new guidelines...

The
dog's age is calculated on the day that the dog will be shown; definitions
for classes differ for ages
-
Dogs entered
in Junior are not typically eligible to compete for CACIB, although do
challenge for Green Star
-
A
dog or bitch may only be shown in a single breed class
-
Champion
veterans may be entered in either the veteran or champion class
Puppy -
Confined to dogs six to twelve
(nine for some shows!) calendar months of age on the day of the Show, computed from and
inclusive of the date of its birth.
Junior - For
dogs over the age of nine and eighteen calendar months of age on the day of the Show, computed from
and inclusive of the date of its birth.
Intermediate - For dogs
between fifteen and twenty-four calendar months of age on the day of the show, computed from
and inclusive of the date of its birth.
Open -
For dogs over fifteen calendar months of age on the day of the show, computed from
and inclusive of the date of its birth.
Champion - For dogs which have
been awarded the title of championship under IKC rules of
a recognised kennel authority, confirmed by date of close of entries

Veteran -
for dogs over eight years of age on
the day of the show, computed from and inclusive of the date of its birth.
