Genes known to be involved with coat colour determination.
Genetic diversity between different breeds of dogs is generally expected, but the degree of variation in specific breeds is also very high. Shetland Sheepdogs are my prime interest so I have devoted a separate page for the coat colour determining genes in Shelties - this page contains a brief explanation of other modifying factors not observed in Shelties.
