Sheltie Specialist Books
- Sheltie Talk - My
ultimate sheltie bible. ISBN: 0-931866-17-0. This book is by Betty Jo McKinney
& Barbara Hagen Riedeberg and contains excellent chapters on grooming, breeding,
training and rearing shelties. Also has a fair bit of knowledge about American
lines. Published in 1976 and 1985 with a new edition due out soon.
- The Book of the Shetland Sheepdog by Anna Katherine Nicholas. ©1984 by
T.F.H. Publications, Inc, Ltd. This is such a comprehensive book covering shelties
in England, USA, Canada and Austrailia as well as the more usual Grooming, breeding,
showing chapters.
- Shetland Sheepdogs by
Malcolm Hart and published by Crowood Press in 1999. ISBN: 1 86126 199 3.This
is an excellent book by a UK author covering the origins of shelties in many differnt
countries.
- The Shetland Sheepdog by
Margaret Osbourne. This is one of the originals, again by a UK author & my
edition cost just 30s. I don't know whether this book is still in print, but it was
published by Popular Dogs Publishing Co. Ltd from 1959 - 1970.
Agility and Training Books
- Everybody Can Train Their Own Dog by Angela White and published by TFH Publications. This is an
excellent reference guide for traing your own dog and should benefit everyone from
complete newcomer to long time enthusiast. ISBN: 0 86622 524 2.
- Happy dogs... Happy winners! by Angela White and published by TFH Publications. Follows on from
the above book and gives advice on how to enjoy (people & dogs!) competitive
obedience.
- Puppies by Angela
White and published by Kingdon Books, England in 1997. TFH publications
I know this looks as though I am a big fan of Angela
White, but her training ideas / methods follow my beliefs and experiences very well.
