Our Message

In the holy Quran, Allah praises those who accept Imaan and do good deeds: "Give glad tidings to those who believe and do good deeds, of gardens in which rivers flows…." (2:25) Allah again says: "Those who believe and do good, for them is bliss and a beautiful place of return." (13:29)

However, in the concise Sura Asr, we are told it is not sufficient to only believe and do good. Instead, two more requirements have been set. Quran says: "By the time, verily man is in loss, save those who believe, and do good deeds, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance." (Sura 103)

Here, Allah announces, that it is not enough to believe and do good yourself, but it is your utmost duty to advise others to do the same, and this is the most difficult task. For this, patience is required. This duty, of invitation to others, is called tableegh.

Tableegh can be defined as using convenient means for delivering this message to others, as informing people of the correct beliefs, laws and manners of Islam, and as making people aware of the truth of your religion and viewpoint, and defending your faith from attack, in an appropriate manner.

Tableegh is actually following the orders of Allah, when He says: "Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and godly exhortation, and argue with them in a manner which is the best." (16:125)

The Quran also tells us: "And that there should be among you a group who call (mankind) to virtue and enjoin good and forbid evil, and these are they who shall be successful." (3:104)

A few years ago, a group of momineen from Peterborough (UK), established an organisation, under the name of Islamic Thought, to fulfil this duty of tableegh. Islamic Thought (I.T.) is a UK registered charity, whose main aims are:

  1. To spread the teachings of the Holy Quran and Ahlul Bayt.

  2. To make known the works of those Ulema, who have spent their lives for this cause.

  3. To propagate books of scholars, which have provided us with a legacy of knowledge.

  4. Support financially and morally, those who are involved in such work

  5. Encourage those who wish to enter the field of religious literacy.

We have examples of the difficulties our great Ulema went through to provide us with this knowledge.

Ayatullah Maràshi Najafi prays Namaaz-e-Ijara for years to allow him to buy books with that money. Allama Mir Hamid Musavi travelled thousands of miles to collect books to write a reference book called "Abaqaat ul Anwaar". Allama Amini spent 26 years of his life to write the book "Al Ghadeer". Allama Sharf Ud Din Musavi collected together hundreds of letters of discussion with the Sunni Ulema, and set them together in a book "Al- Muraajaat".

Who will explain these sacrifices and hard work of our Ulema to our next generation? Can you imagine that until a few years ago the great book of "Sahifa-e-Sajadiyya" was unknown to the scholars of Al Azhar University?

Tantawi, a professor of Al-Azhar University, says in an article: "A young Indian student of the University, Seyyed Mujtaba Hassan, informed me of this book. I was astonished at why Muslims have not been familiar with this treasure, and they did not realise that God had bestowed upon them such a fortune as this book."

Alhamdulillah, Islamic Thought has distributed more than 100,000 books across the United Kingdom, at highly subsided prices, and our mission is to enable these books to reach each and every individual.

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said: "Seek knowledge, it is a good deed. Teach others, it is a reward. Educate the ignorant, it is sadaqah." He further says: "There is no better sadaqah then to spread knowledge."

Imam Reza (A.S.) said: "If people understood the goodness of our sayings, they would follow us." Therefore, it is the duty of the lover and the follower of the Ahlul Bayt to tell people of their sayings.

We request people to prove that we are a knowledge loving people. Read these books yourself, encourage others to do the same, and support those Ulema who are active in this field.

Islamic Thought invites momineen to take a firm and practical step to spread the knowledge of Quran and Itrat and joins us in this mission.

IT's other aim is to help needy Momineen in accordance with this ayat: "You shall not attain righteousness until you spend in the way of Allah of what you love; and whatsoever you spend, verily, Allah knows it". (3:92) IT tries to help orphans, widows and others financially to provide them with facilities for food, health, education and shelter. We give great value to support of Hawza students and teachers. IT offers projects to build and maintain mosques, Imambarghas and Hawzas.

If momineen would like to offer help in a whole project, or part of a project, we can contact them directly or we can do it on their behalf.
