craft daft

Participating in worship isn't just about writing prayers, reading lessons or singing in the choir. There is a whole host of other ways to be part of the worshipping, creating community of the church.

Dreaming marvels, designing art, making crafts are all part of the same process. We are creative people and our whole theology is based on the creation of beauty from chaos. It is life itself.

So we have started a group to enable everyone to do just that: to allow themselves the freedom to put hand to paper, scissor, glue and paste. Who knows what will evolve and just how deeply it will affect our worship.

In this group we'll get wee ideas for big festivals (and all the others too); design ways of decorating the church walls; use the ideas given to us from our resource material; put them all together creating something wonderful and generally have good fun and a laugh.

The sanctuary will be a mini cosmos where God's imaginative people will take part in worship through art and craft and discovery of a new side to their spirituality.

Have you never cut anything in a straight line? Do you spread more glue on yourselves than on anything else? Can you laugh? If you fit into any of these categories, then please come to Craft Daft. It’s really easy: we talk about what we would like to have on the walls to help us explore more deeply our worship, then we start making it from all sorts of things (hope, laughter, sticky backed plastic). It’s a genuine way for people to think heavenly and let the creative chaos take shape. The more there are the more the imagination flows. You’ll never be asked to do a reading again!

Tissue paper and chicken wire will bring Pentecost closer (bleieve it or not).

The next project is the birthday of the chruch and the flames of the Holy Spirit. Pillars of fire will be seen in Abbotsford.
