Outstation of the National Portrait Gallery containing 19th century portraiture in a Victorian House setting, including furniture from the Victoria and Albert Museum and sculptures from the Royal Academy.
Bodelwyddan Castle provides an unique opportunity to experience Victorian life and Arts with ‘hands on’ interactive activities such as Victorian puzzles. A ‘living history’ experience based on Victorian life is available and material from the castle’s use as a private girls school between 1920 and 1980.
There are extensive grounds, gardens and woodlands which can be included in educational visits.
Directions: Just off the A55 expressway approximately 1 mile west of St Asaph.
Open:
April to October: Every day except Friday 1030-1700
November to March: Every day except Monday an Friday 1100-1600
Facilities: Disabled access, toilets, café, shop, education room/work shop, audio guide, parking for cars and coaches, temporary exhibitions, occasional week-end courses, quiz sheets, teachers notes/work pack, gardens, playground facilities.
Admission:
Adults: £4.30 (Grounds only: £1.00)
School groups: £1.25 per pupil (Denbighshire, Conwy, Flintshire)
£1.75 per pupil outside these counties.
