The library houses display cases, information boards and framed pictures relating to the town’s industrial and social past.

Coverage: Pottery: early slipware, post-mediaeval ware, agate ware, sgraffito ware, rustic ware; industrial ware: bricks and tiles; clay tobacco pipes; aerated water works; Frederick Birks,V.C., M.M.; language and community life; transport.

 

Directions: The building is in the main shopping precinct.

Facilities: Toilets, convenient parking, temporary exhibitions.

Teachers’ notes and pupils’ worksheets available for Primary schools.
