MID SUMMER ON THE BORDERS OF SURREY AND KENT

The Byway linking Biggin Hill in Kent with Chelsham in Surrey, known as Crown Ash Lane passes through some of the most beautiful scenery, there are rolling hills with a farm here and there, and hardly any houses to be seen for miles. The hills in the distance are part of Beddlestead, which is a very rural area. It is interesting to note that in the 1920's there were plans to build The Southern Heights Light Railway through this district, running from Orpington to Sanderstead.
