FLAT HOLM (ex AL KHUBAR 3)
  Flat Holm
With grateful thanks to Coastline Surveys Limited for their assistance with my research
Working from a Model Slipway Kit of AL KHUBAR
Model Scale: 1:32
Hull Material: GRP part of Kit
Plan: With Kit and additional Information taken from Prototype
Model Length: 790mm (31in)
Build Time: Approximately 650 hrs
Progress: Finished

Propulsion: Twin propellers with fixed Kort nozzles. I have altered the rudder fixings as the rudders hang (have no lower support) but as this requires a major change to the rudder tube to hull fixing, you can use the method as per the kit.
Electrics: Twin motors using Model Slipway supplied electric motors and belt drive gear box's, Two Electronize Electronic (FR30HX) speed controller's and independent control of each motor.
Notes: 'Flat Holm' has been converted into a survey vessel from the Harbour Tug
'Al Khubar 3'.
'Al Khubar' is available as a kit from Model Slipway and I am using this kit as the starting point for 'Flat Holm'.

I have been fortunate in being able to gain access to 'Flat Holm' and have taken numerous detail photographs and measured the alterations made during her conversion. (The alteration details will be added to this page in due course)

I am also adding strengthened towing positions to enable me to both "Push" and "Tow", as the Tow Hook and 'H' Bits have been removed from the prototype, I am using the Crane Base (which is between the old 'H' Bits and Tow Hook positions) as the main tow point, the push knee is built to work properly and both the bow and single side tow posts are strengthened. I am fitting rubber fendering to both the sides and stern of the hull (all as per the prototype).
