When referring to the side of a vessel the terms PORT and STARBOARD are used but which side is which.

Any reference to a position (such as the left or right sides) on a ship is normally taken as though you are standing at the stern (back) looking towards the bow (front)

Port:- Left Side. colour RED

Starboard:- Right Side colour GREEN

One way to remember it is that the words PORT and LEFT both have 4 letters and port wine is RED in colour, so the other side must be Starboard and GREEN
