| Plan: | Builders and General Arrangement in Lekko Magazine | ||
| Model Length: | 710mm (28") | ||
| Build Time: | |||
| Progress: | Pictures as of July 2001 | ||
| Propulsion: | Twin Azimuthing units ("Marx 1775") in stern and Bow Tunnel Thruster ("robbe 1155") | ||
| Both azimuthing units are linked
together to use a single speed controller and steer as a single unit, but
turning beyond 90 degrees to the centre line. This means that with the bow thruster (using a second speed control) I have a great deal of manoeuvrability without the problem of trying to work each azimuthing unit separately. |
|||
| Electrics: | Twin electric motors, 1. Electronize speed control for motors, + another for Bow Thruster. | ||
| Notes: | Sister vessels 'Silex (15)' and ''Thrax (16)' where built in 1994. 543 GRT. Length OA 35.11mtr. Bollard Pull: 62 tons ahead. Designed as Tanker Escort Tugs and fully equipped for oil recovery, fire fighting and towing with a Bow Winch, Aft Winch (built inside superstructure) and Tow Hook. Based at the Fawley Oil Terminal, Southampton Water, UK. | ||

Setting up ballast prior to 'on the water' testing. This enabled everything to be checked before I fitted the decks. It performed very well and by using the azimuthing units and thruster together gives very good manoeuvrability including going sideways. | ||
