'Sir Dave'
A plastic construction kit converted to be used with standard radio control, for use in the MINI SHIP competitions
Plastic Kit of Nedlloyd Bahrain SIR DAVE Finished
Due to their small size, these models are only suitable for use in VERY still water, such as an indoor swimming pool.
Model Scale: 1:400
Hull Material: Plastic as part of kit
Plan: Instruction Sheet with kit
Model Length: 430 mm (17inch)
Build Time: 45 hours
Progress: Finished in April 2002

Propulsion: Single screw, using the cast white metal propeller supplied with the kit
Electrics: Single electric motor, using the motor and circuit board from a servo.

Notes: Originally a standard plastic construction kit made by 'ARII' of the cargo ship 'Nedlloyd Bahrain' , which I have motorized and made steerable with normal R/C equipment, to use in the 'MINI SHIP' competitions. This form of competition has evolved from the plastic kits converted by Dave Abbott - he has a very good article on carrying out the work in 'Model Boats' Magazine - February 2000 (vol 50 issue 591)
