The Bauhaus |

This was a little disappointing, after knowing the story of how influential the Bauhaus was in in it's heyday, the Exhibition of furniture and lots of chairs was a let down. On top of this there was strictly "no photographs" rule in force. I was told on entry when staff saw my camera. Considering they had staff and pupils such as Hans Richter, Hans Arp, Moholy-Nagy, Tristan Tzara, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Johannes Itten and Josef Albers, they did not show themselves off in my opinion. The building was especially built as the Bauhaus Archive from Walter Gropius's design of 1964. The side structures are painted steel and although built and opened in 1979, it is looking a bit second hand at the moment. The photo I show here is when it was new. |
