Roof to the Livery Hall nearing completion

Contract Haberdashers Hall roof, Smithfield
Value
Client Cowley Timberwork
Employer Parkman
One of many designs we undertook for Cowley Timberwork. The Structural Engineer for the project as a whole was Arups, with Michael Hopkins Partnership as Architects. Our role has been to design the stainless steel connections, and provide structural advice on all aspects of the work for Cowleys.

The roof consists of two areas - the 10 m span livery hall and a smaller 5m span hall. The structure was conceived as a timber diagrid forming the upper chord of a truss, and stainless steel tie rods forming the lower chord. The diagrid is made up of short (1.2m) sections of glulam beams. Unlike other projects of a similar nature which we have worked on with Cowleys (eg Hounslow East Station)
