The Dog Hause
Travel

Follow these tips from John Foster B.Vs., Cert.V.Ophthal.,M.R.V.S., consultant vet to Beta petfoods, and you could make your dog's life in the car considerably more comfortable during the summer months.

when travelling with your dog carry plenty of fresh drinking water and a drinking bowl.An average 20kg dog will drink about 1.5 (900ml) pints per day. In the heat this can increase by 200-300%.

Always ensure that your dog has plenty of fresh air. Placing a dog in the back of an estate car without an open rear window is undesirable, probably cruel, and will often prove to be fatal.

When you leave your car parked in the shade, remember how quickly the sun moves. As theshade disappears, the inside of the car can quickly reach oven-hot temperatures-up to 140 degrees.Heat stroke can happen within minutes.
