What are “Original new Triumph parts?”
The
parts I sell are what our American friends would call “New Old Stock” (NOS).
They are unused, but can be thirty or more years old! Nearly every item on my list is of genuine origin, ie Triumph,
(Stanpart), British Leyland, or Unipart. Lamps
and electrical parts were manufactured by Lucas, brake parts by Girling or Lockheed. Tank senders, instruments etc are of Smiths
origin. Many parts are still in their original packaging, which is a nostalgia
trip in itself… It has always been difficult and time-consuming to find stock,
and it is getting more difficult every day. Selling the stuff is the easy part!
Small
business equals low overheads and no VAT to pay. My prices are thus very competitive, even though I am the only source
for some items, and I usually charge postage/carriage at cost. People have been known to come up to my stall
at shows (honest!) and tell me I’m not
charging enough for some item or other. (They usually say that after they’ve bought whatever it was…)
