Ashby Art Club holds weekly meetings throughout the year. The Club is closed on Bank Holidays and closes for about 4 weeks in July/August.

The club  meets on Monday evenings at Smisby Village Hall, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and from 17th January 2008, on Thursday afternoons at Ivanhoe College in the Common Room/Stanley Western Room from 2p.m. to 4p.m.

Parking is available in the school car park across the road from the village hall and parking is also available on the road side.

The Club provides a friendly atmosphere where you can develop your drawing & painting skills and talk to others who enjoy wrestling with a brush, pen, pastel or pencil. The Club has about 100 Members.

Beginners are welcome, you don't need to have painted before.
The club's activities are a good way to learn.

Membership costs £27 per year (September start).
The club has discount arrangements with local Art Materials stores.

The programme includes: Monthly demonstrations by professional artists, Exhibitions, Social events, Competitions, Day workshops and Organised activities.

Constitution

Objective

To encourage the appreciation and practice of art.

Constitution

The constitution may be amended only at a General Meeting or an AGM by vote of a simple majority

 Membership

Membership shall be open to all from the age of 15 on payment of the appropriate subscription. Guests may be invited by a member, on the understanding that they pay any charge made for demonstrations, workshops or other events deemed as chargeable by the committee.

 Subscriptions

The annual subscription shall be determined at the AGM or at a General Meeting and shall be due on the 1st meeting of September in each year.  Subscriptions for members joining later than September may be varied at the discretion of the committee

 Management

The management of the Club shall be vested in the Committee which shall consist of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and not less than 2 other members.
An Honorary President may also be elected in recognition of past service to the Club. The Honorary President shall not be required to pay a membership fee.
The Committee shall have power to co-opt additional Committee members or set up subcommittees.

 Annual General Meeting

An Annual General Meeting shall be held in October each year at no less than 7 days' notice. At the Annual General Meeting the business will include the election of officers for the ensuing year, the examination of the balance sheet for the previous year and reports by the Secretary and Treasurer. At any General Meeting a total of not less than ¼ of the membership shall form a quorum.

 Other General Meetings

A Special General Meeting may be called at any time at the discretion of the Committee or at the request of a minimum of 1/3rd of the members. No less than 7 days' notice shall be given prior to any such General Meeting.

 Committee Meetings

The Chairman shall call formal Committee meetings as and when necessary.
At any Committee Meeting 3 or more committee members shall form a quorum.

 Finances

Financial transactions on the Club bank account shall require the signatures of any two of the Treasurer, Secretary or Chairman. The annual accounts statement (balance sheet) shall be audited by an ordinary member before being presented at the AGM.

 Assets

A list shall be maintained of the assets of the club. The list shall include the keeper of the assets, their location, whether such assets are insured or not and any other information which may be needed. The keeper of any assets shall report the state of assets prior to the AGM so that the treasurer may report any changes or deficiencies.

Responsibility for the assets of the Club shall be delegated by the Committee.
Keepers of the assets shall take all reasonable steps to maintain the integrity of the assets. Losses or breakages shall be reported to the treasurer as soon as possible. Disposal of any assets shall be by agreement of the committee.
