Class DX weighbridge testing vans
|
In 1902 two weighbridge testing vans were constructed. These used a new all steel 15'-0" chassis fitted with vacuum brakes as did G class wagons constructed at that time. These two wagons were numbered 1411 and 5947. Number 5947 was written off in 1949 and replaced by a new vehicle numbered 5972 built on a GE type chassis. This new van was 16'-0" long and all welded but was otherwise very similar. Both of the surviving vans lasted long enough to be repainted in Westrail Yellow livery. |

Number 5972 was written off in 1993 followed by 1411 in 1996. Number 1411 is preserved. |
