In 1902 two weighbridge testing vans were constructed. These used a new all steel 15'-0" chassis fitted with vacuum brakes as did G class wagons constructed at that time. These two wagons were numbered 1411 and 5947. Number 5947 was written off in 1949 and replaced by a new vehicle numbered 5972 built on a GE type chassis. This new van was 16'-0" long and all welded but was otherwise very similar. Both of the surviving vans lasted long enough to be repainted in Westrail Yellow livery.

 Number 5972 was written off in 1993 followed by 1411 in 1996. Number 1411 is preserved.
