Class EA

This group of vans appeared in 1934 as a batch of 6 vans on a 16'-0" steel underframe numbered 5009, 5173/5, 5985, 6026 and 6384. They were originally intended for lamb traffic but were later used for other things such as butter. A second batch of 15 followed in 1939 (4536-4547, 4549-4551). They were written of as listed in the table below. The first one was almost certainly an accident victim.

The body of EA4546 survived as a store for some time and is shown at left.

Four E class vans were reclassified EA in 1940 (5221) and 1954 (5225/6/8). These four vans had been part of a group of fifteen E class vans built at Midland in 1901. They were 17'-0" long over headstocks. It is not clear if they were rebuilt or rebodied when reclassified to EA. They wagons were written off as follows:

Other Cold storage vans

The W.A.G.R.'s other cold storage trucks were classes E and EB, and the bogie vehicles in Classes W, WA, WAM, WAR, WBR and WVD.
