M.R.W.A. Class D and DX Bogie sheep trucks. Never taken into W.A.G.R. stock

In about 1902 the M.R.W.A. acquired 12 bogie sheep trucks. These were numbered 11D- 22D. Another five (23D-27D) appeared by 1910. In 1912 the whole group were renumbered 216-232. The following year a final batch of five (314-318) were built. At some point between 1929 and 1932 the whole group were renumbered indiscriminately into a new series as D654-675. Known examples are 654(ex219), 655 (ex 316 and 656 (ex 216). These numbers followed on from a batch of three wagons 651-653 constructed in 1929. Finally in 1933 the last wagon, D676, was added to give a total of twenty-six. From 1936 conversion to the new DX standard started. Withdrawal followed from 1961. |
