Class RCA wooden bodied open wagons

In 1954 the first open wagons on the standard post-war 36'-0" bogie chassis appeared as class RC. In 1959 a new variant with higher seven plank sides appeared as class RCA. They entered traffic as follows:

1959 - 23901-8, 23933/5/6-9

1960 - 23916-22, 23924-32/4, 23040-2, 23944-70, 23972-24020

1961 - 23909-15, 23923, 23943, 23971/2

Further wagons were added to the class by conversion of RC's although wagons were written off too (presumably as a result of accidents). A single wagon (23966) was also fitted with a corrugated iron roof and reclassified RCK in 1986.
