In 1965 two hundred and one RCB class wagons were fitted with ridgepoles and the sides were extended by one plank in height. These wagons were reclassified RCW. In 1970/1 ninety wagons were fitted with fibreglass roofs and converted to class RCH. Most of the remaining wagons were fitted with roofs and converted to class RCWA in 1987/8.
