The www.AustinAllegro.net Site

Estate

As a keen transport enthusiast I have pleasure in providing a web site for the Allegro.

I have had an interest in the Austin Allegro since first seeing it on launch day in 1973. I have owned a number of Austin cars over the years and I am a member of the Allegro Club International who also provided a brief history of the Allegro.

The site has been developed over a number of years and 2001 saw the first redesign to fix a number of errors and to allow for more growth. This version was launched in 2005 to provide accessiblity options with selectable print size and colour options.

It has been developed using HTML-Kit. Some Javascript code obtained from javascript.internet.com.

Please contact me, Anthony Lewis, if you have any problems accessing these pages.

Cars I have owned

I have always been keen on Austin cars and most cars I have owned were Austin/BL/Rovers. Many of these were Allegros. My first memory of the Allegro was going with a few of my friends on the launch day to see Austins new car, but it was a few years later that I purchased my first Allegro. My interest in the Allegro was resurrected a few years ago when I purchased a 1981 Allegro estate as a 'run-about' to commute to and from work and carry the odd bale of hay for my sons pet animals. At a historic vehicle show I found out about the Allegro Club International and joined a group interested in preserving the Austin Allegro. Unfortunately my last Allegro estate needed a fair bit of money spent on it for its annual MOT test so I sold it (it has been repaired and I have seen it back on the road). I last owned an Allegro in 2001 but this was seriously damaged in a fire where it was stored and had to be scrapped. Currently I do not really have any spare room for another car but should the right vehicle come along......

More information is provided about the cars I have owned in my life are in these web pages.
