Allard Dragon History
The Allard Dragon kit dragster was manufactured in the early
1960's by the Allard Motor Company based in London, England. The earliest
pictorial documentation I have found is in the 23rd April 1964 issue of Motor
Cycle Magazine showing two very well known motorcycle sprinters; Alf Hagon
and George Brown, on the startline at Silverstone
in a pair of Dragons.
A page from the 1968
Allard catalogue gives the engine specifications and the price quoted
then was £645 complete and £245 without engine gearbox and axle.
An earlier catalogue
has more details and prices of the Dragon options available.
My Dragon has the number 002 on its original Allard chassis plate and judging
by the location of the steering drag link, which as can be seen is different
on the two vehicles, is the white one driven by George Brown.
