Percy William Whitlock

1 June 1903 - 1 May 1946

On Sunday 1st June 2003, a short Service of Celebration and
the Laying of a Wreath in memory of Percy Whitlock was held
at Bournemouth Cemetery.

About fifty people gathered for the service, led by Fr. Robin Harger, with a performance of "Here, O my Lord, I see Thee face to face" by singers representing St. Peter's and St. Stephen's Churches, and with Danny Campbell at the organ.

Following the service, a wreath-laying took place at Percy Whitlock's memorial. This wreath was given by the Percy Whitlock Trust and we are most grateful for their generosity.

Milton Abbey, Dorset.
September 2004

The Abbey was founded by King Athelstan in 935 but destroyed by fire
in 1309. Rebuilding began soon but
the nave was never built. At the Dissolution of the Monasteries, Sir John Tregonwell took over
the estate and the church became the property of the parish. The Damer family and then the Hambros were successive owners and in 1954 the Public School was founded.

The Organ was built by Gray
and Davison (1868) in the north aisle. It was moved to the
screen by Bishop & Son, restored and improved in 1978. The case from St. Mary's, Lambeth, was fixed to the front and the Fagotto extended downwards in 1997.

Bryanston School, Dorset.
September 2004

St. Martin's church at Bryanston
School was built in 1858, and was designed by E.P. Warren. The stone came from the Portman mansion (designed by Wyatt) which had been built on this site and was demolished when the Portmans built the
new house further up the hill.

The Organ was built in 1980 by Nigel Church and Georges
Lhote of Geneva. It replaced a 2-manual instrument by Robert Hope-Jones, rebuilt by Rushworth & Dreaper in 1934.
