THE TIME consuming task of organising a school reunion has been made much easier, thanks to the web

Organisers trying to reach former friends who left Barnstaple Grammar School in the summer of 1967 have created their own web site

It has had hits from former pupils all over the country and abroad including those who attended different years.

One of the organisers, Barrie Cann, explained: "As I am an Internet freak we thought the obvious and ideal way of doing it would be through the internet. It has been brilliant"

With the help of Jean Browning who sat next to him in class, they have managed to find 40 former pupils from that year out of a roster of 130.

Barrie said: "We have been running for six months and it is gathering its own momentum.

"People are finding Barnstaple and seeing our site coming up which says Barnstaple Grammar School reunion and they are looking in there."

The reunion is being held on March 24 next year at the Cedars in Bickington, Barnstaple, when all the ex-students will be 50 years old.
