GALLERY 1989 |
I find that I have photos of most of the 1989 cars in one form or another.
I should point out that at this time virtually ALL the sign-writing on the cars was hand painted (e.g. the camels, the Gitanes lady and the stag on the Eurobrun badge) which accounts for the laughable shapes of some items !
Most of the lettering was done, with extreme difficulty, using Letraset dry print - hence the somewhat tatty look of some of the cars.
Christian Danner is in the Rial ARC.2;
Gabriele Tarquini is in the AGS JH23.
Eddie Cheever's Arrows A.11.
Mauricio Gugelmin in the March CG.891 and
the Benetton B.188 of Johnny Herbert.
Later in the year I added more logos to the Benetton.
Nicola Larini in the very tidy Osella FA.1.M.

As the caption on the picture says, this is a Eurobrun
- Gregor Foitek from Switzerland on board.

Olivier Grouillard's Ligier JS.33... and a certain N. Mansell in a Ferrari 640.
Nelson Piquet's Lotus 101 -
with exceedingly embarrassingly awful hand-painted camel !!!
Well, I never claimed to be an artist.

The McLaren is a MP4/5 while the Tyrrell is an 018.
The Dallara 189 driver is Andrea de Cesaris;
with Luis Sala in the Minardi M.188.
I made the 189 later in the year. (see below)
Thierry Boutsen in the Williams Renault FW.12 and
Martin Brundle in a Brabham Judd BT.58.
Phillipe Alliot is in the Lola LC.89 with the unusual Lamborghini engine.
While #35 is Bernd Schneider with the rarely-qualified, rarely-raced, Zakspeed Yamaha 891.
Stefan Johansson in the Moneytron Onyx ORE.1.
Finally the aforementioned M.189 Minardi - again with Sala on board.
