in Adelaide at a convention over the weekend of 18th and
19th September '99.
Photo 1. shows Chinese Pirates firing on Japanese Infantry moving along the dock. The little village is part of a much larger over all town.
Photo 2. shows a Chinese farm taken over by the Missionaries and local merchants for their own defence, plus some more of the town, a small temple and some ornamental gardens.
Photo 3. Shows Italian Besaglieri troops advancing along a ridge followed by French sailors. The stern of the German Gunboat 'Vorwarts' can be seen, plus the bows of a British Torpedo Boat Destroyer as they move up the harbour in support.
Photo 4. This photograph, taken by Trevor Ford,
shows Japanese infantry storming up the pier toward the main
gate of the town during our Boxer battle.
In the background the Chinese War Junk has just exploded,
having been silly enough to fire on the Japanese torpedo boat.
The harbour is crowded with Junks, Sampans and other shipping.
The Japanese gunboat that put the infantry ashore is at the end
of the pier.
This photograph shows the German Collier ELLENOUR WOULVERMANNS, landing SEEBATTALIEN III, some Austrian and German sailors etc. To the rear she is supported by the gunboat SMS VORWARTS. (All scale 15mm)
On the opposite side of the harbour Japanese Naval Infantry are storming ashore. The stern of the Japanese Torpedoboat SHIRATAKA can be seen sticking out of the smoke ahead of the E.Woulvermanns. She had just engaged and blown up a Chinese War Junk that tried to oppose the landings.
HMS LOCUST, steams into the harbour. To her port side a detachment of mixed troops are advancing up a steep ridge. These are Italian sailors
leading, followed by Italian Bersaglieri and then French sailors. In the captured fortification Italian Mountain guns have set up in support. On the far
ridge, British Infantry and US Marines have scaled a steep cliff and ridge and are attacking the "Yellow Banner" Boxer group.
Photo 8. Another photograph by Trevor Ford.
The large freighter SS. ASTEND, is trying to raise steam. She is laying alongside the dock directly beneath the main Imperial Garrison.
To the right is the smaller freighter SS. LADY DORSET and in the distance is the black hull of the SS DAISY BELLE with Japanese infantry storming past her up the Pier.
The Harbour is full of Junks & Sampans in typical crowded eastern harbour fashion.
In the foreground Imperial Troops of the 'HEAVENLY PIKEMEN' watch from the fortress wall.
Photo 9. This is another photo taken by Trevor Ford and shows the marketplace in the Chinese town.
Photo 10. This of some of my Chinese "Fisherman's Militia" (Pirates) making temporary threatening gestures toward the Japanese who were advancing on them.
Photo 11. This photograph, again taken by Trevor, shows some of my "Frontier" Japanese infantry advancing toward the Pirates.
