Hi I'm Dave......
The first LP I bought was "Led Zeppelin 2" - groundbreaking stuff in it's day! Other bands that I was into in my formative years were Hendrix, Black Sabbath & Deep Purple. Later I got into AC/DC and I still love the early Bon Scott stuff.
Got my first guitar at 14, a cheap "Spanish" guitar, but quickly discovered that you couldn't make noises like Jimi Hendrix with it and got my first electric the following year (a Watkins Rapier 33). Found that I still couldn't sound like Hendrix, so turned my attention to playing bass (it's my theory that all Bassists are failed lead guitarists!). My first bass was a brand new 1979 Fender Precision which I kept for many years but was never really happy with it. Eventually tried s Steinberger Headless and fell in love with it and that is what I've played ever since.
Most of the bands I've played with in the past have not been gigging - just jamming for a bit of fun. The last serious band I was in was a NW London "functions" band called Rootz that played Blues Brothers/Commitments sort of music back in 1996. Not exactly my thing, but it was good to get out and play.
Not having been in a band for the last five years, I got the urge to play again and when Baz asked me to join "Break The Chain" I jumped at it (having been a big fan of Black Rain). I have also joined a newly formed West London rock covers band called Replicant, who are just starting to gig.
My other main interest is of course, motorcycles! I have owned many bikes in the past including Triumphs and BSAs, but I currently ride to work every day on a TDM 850. Among the other bikes that I currently own is a VW Trike that I built myself about 12 years ago.
