1PSC Caravan Club & Camping Club (FCCC)

Family: Finding places to stay on our "Family Camp" each year is hard with so many campsites not wanting a group booking because of noise problems they have had in the past with previous inconsiderate (Non Scouting) groups. So what we have decided to do this year is have our very own Caravan & Camping Club, from January 2006. Most of the sites will be for those who are members of the The Caravan Club and therefore you must have a caravan. However we will be using some commercial sites for those with tents who want to have a weekend away when the weather is little warmer, so watch this space. We will let you know the dates of all the planned caravan & camping weekends, just look out for the two images. Most of these camps will be around the planned family hikes but that is optional, you just book in under your own name and chill out while thekids all get on

FAMILY CAMP 2008 Scarborough

4-6 July 2008 (Families Only, no serious hiking just relax)

It's soon come round to our 2008 Family Camp. This year we've booked the Camping & Caravan club site at Scarborough. The site is open to both members and non-members. All you have to do is give them a call and book in under your own name and pay the deposit, just let them know you are part of the 1st Pontefract Scout family camp to ensure we are pitched close together. As usual you do as you please over the weekend, we will have some planned games late afternoon for all, usually Scouts vs Parents at fourway football or rounders etc. If you'd prefer to relax and not join in that's fine, there's no pressure.

Saturday night is generally a buffet meal which we all contribute to, in short we all cook as we would normally for our own families, and place it on the buffet table, that way we can all enjoy a little of everything, and have plenty of choice. Again, this is optional.

During the day you entertain yourselves, you can hike cycle or visit one of many attractions Scarborough has to offer, it's up to you. All families are kindly asked to respect the site rules especially keeping the noise down once it gets dark.

This is a public site and therefore there is an element of risk. The Scouting Association nor members / leaders of 1st Pontefract Scouts will accept responsibility for you, your family or your belongings. It is a family camp therefore we will not accept any young people camping alone.

There is a Brewers fayre type of pub adjoining the site for those who would rather treat themselves.

It's a great weekend that I know many look forward to. There's little chance of your Scouts getting bored as there will be other Scouts they'll probably know to help keep them occupied.

Could I ask that you drop the centre an email once you've booked so we have an idea of what games equipment we might need.
