For those of you who are interested, I created these pages as follows...
First, I gathered digital versions of photos either by scanning
ordinary photos (using a flatbed, A4, high-res scanner), or by use of a
digital camera.
Next, I created the graphics by using Photoshop 6 (and later 7), with some
tweaking using other packages (eg ThumbsPlus, Corel Photo-Paint).
Some care was necessary to 'optimize' the graphics for use over the web.
Next, I created the pages mostly by hand-coding, but with some
use of DreamWeaver 4. The pages use the following: HTML/XHTML, CSS,
Javascript/VBScript.
HTML/XHTML: The pages are mostly in HTML, but I am gradually
converting them to XHTML.
CSS: I've used a CSS stylesheet to simplify and standardise format
(and, at the same time, reduce the size of the pages).
Next, I checked the site/pages on a local machine, using IE6.
Finally, I "uploaded" the files to the relevent webspace server
(and directory), using FTP. I checked the website again, using
IE6 and Mozilla Firefox.
